In my work, I explore the intricate relationship between nature, waste, and transformation. As an artist at Sea Woven, I create upcycled macramé pieces that reflect the dark, relentless energy of the ocean—a force that embodies both life and death. Using a foundation of reclaimed wood, I knot together polypropylene turquoise rope salvaged from the landfill, black cotton rope, and the bone of a seal. Each material carries its own story, merging the remnants of human impact with the beauty of the natural world.
The ocean, in its raw power, serves as my muse, reminding us of the cycles that govern existence. My art seeks to capture this duality: the beauty and brutality of nature, the tension between creation and destruction. Through this process, I aim to provoke reflection on our relationship with the environment, urging viewers to consider the potential for renewal in what we often discard. In every knot and twist, I invite you to witness the resilience of life amidst the shadows—a celebration of transformation and the interconnectedness of all beings.
